About Everyday Tools
Everyday Tools is a collection of small, focused tools for the calculations people reach for every day — loan payments, tips, grades, health numbers, dates and unit conversions — built to be fast, free, and simple to use. Most tools are designed for users in the United States, with dollars, US units and US date formats; a few serve users in Nepal and India.
Who runs this site
Everyday Tools is built and maintained by Anup Ghimire, an independent web developer. Every tool on the site is designed, coded and checked by hand, and every page is reviewed before it goes live.
How we build and check our tools
- Published formulas only. Each calculator uses the standard formula for its subject — the same one used by textbooks, government agencies and lenders — rather than a shortcut or estimate.
- Independent checks. Before a tool goes live, its results are compared against a separate calculation across a range of normal and edge-case inputs, such as zero, very large numbers and leap years.
- Worked examples. The example tables on each page are calculated with the tool's own formula, so you can check them against the tool yourself.
- Dated updates. Each tool page shows when it was last updated. Figures that change by law, such as yearly retirement contribution limits, are reviewed when new values are published.
Sources we rely on
Where a tool depends on official figures or definitions, we use the primary source:
- Health: BMI categories and related guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
- Taxes and retirement: contribution limits, tax rates and wage bases from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Social Security Administration.
- Loans: the standard amortization formula used by US lenders for fixed-rate loans.
- Units: exact international definitions, such as 1 inch = 2.54 cm and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg.
Tools that depend on official figures, such as the BMI calculator, name their source on the page.
Not professional advice
Our tools give estimates for planning and learning. They don't replace advice from a doctor, accountant, financial adviser or lawyer who knows your situation. See the disclaimer for details.
Everything runs in your browser
Calculators and converters compute their results with JavaScript on your own device. The numbers you type into a tool aren't sent to our servers to get an answer, which means results are instant and your inputs stay private. A few tools, like the lucky draw wheel, save their working data in your browser's local storage so it's still there next time; that data stays on your device. The site does use cookies for advertising and analytics — our privacy policy explains how.
How the site is funded
The site is supported by display advertising rather than subscriptions or paywalls, so every tool stays free. Advertisers have no say in what our tools calculate or what our pages say.
Found a mistake?
If a result looks wrong, a figure is out of date, or a tool doesn't work on your device, please tell us through the contact page or at contact@everydaytoolz.com. Confirmed errors are fixed and the page's "last updated" date changes with the fix.
